The SHARKBITE/CASH ACME UC008LFA is a lead-free brass barb insert coupling designed to join two pieces of 1/2 inch cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) tubing in potable water systems. Constructed from lead-free brass, it meets NSF/ANSI Standard 14-2009 and ASTM F 1807 for products used in the transport of potable water. The wetted surface contains less than 0.25% lead by weight, satisfying AB1953 California and Vermont VT S152 low-lead restrictions. Once installed, the connection is immediately testable to well over 100 psi, allowing plumbers to pressure-test without waiting for adhesives or solvents to cure.

This coupling is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications where 1/2 inch PEX tubing is used for water distribution. It is secured using either cinch clamps with a cinch tool or copper crimp rings with a crimp tool, giving installers flexibility based on the tooling already on the truck. The UC008LFA is packaged in quantities of 12 units per pack, making it practical for rough-in work where multiple connections are needed in a single visit.

Compatibility

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before cutting into any existing line. Ensure barb ends are fully seated into the PEX tubing before applying cinch clamps or crimp rings, as an incomplete seat is the most common cause of joint failure. Verify clamp or crimp placement with a go/no-go gauge when using crimp rings per ASTM F 1807 tooling standards.
