Description
The MIDDLE ATLANTIC – U.S. – LEGRAND WRK-40-27 is a 40-space, 27-inch-depth gangable open-frame equipment rack finished in black. Designed for structured wiring and AV or data equipment installations, this rack provides a solid mounting solution for patch panels, amplifiers, network switches, and other rack-mount components. The gangable design allows multiple units to be bolted together side by side, expanding capacity without requiring separate free-standing enclosures. It is a standard choice for installers working in equipment rooms, server closets, and structured media centers in both residential and light commercial settings.
The WRK-40-27 is suited for installations where rack space and floor depth are both considerations. At 40 rack units of mounting space and a 27-inch usable depth, it accommodates full-depth network and AV gear. Typical install scenarios include equipment rooms in commercial offices, hospitality environments, and multi-unit residential buildings where integrators need scalable rack infrastructure. The gangable rail system makes it practical for staged buildouts where rack capacity is added over time.
Key Features
- 40 rack units (RU) of usable mounting space for high-density equipment installations
- 27-inch depth accommodates full-depth rack-mount components
- Gangable design allows side-by-side coupling of multiple rack units
- Black finish for clean appearance in finished equipment rooms
- Open-frame construction allows unrestricted airflow and easy cable access
Compatibility

Installation Notes
Installation is typically performed by low-voltage technicians or AV and IT integrators. The rack should be secured to a level floor surface or wall structure per the manufacturer instructions before loading equipment. Power down all equipment before mounting or re-routing cables within the rack. Follow local low-voltage and structured wiring codes when installing rack infrastructure in commercial or multi-unit residential buildings.
